CUB SCOUT CAMPING
Camping takes you on exciting adventures into the natural world. You'll learn to live with others in the out-of-doors. You'll learn to be a good citizen of the outdoors. Camping is fun, and it's good for your mind, body, and spirit. It helps you learn to rely on yourself—on your own skills and knowledge. When you go camping as a Cub Scout, you get skills you will learn and use more, later, as a Boy Scout. Cub Scout camping has day camps, resident camps, Webelos den overnight campouts, family camps, and pack overnighters.
Pack 483 generally plans 3 family oriented camping trips each year (Fall, Winter and Spring). We set up camp on Friday evening, have a fun-filled day of activities on Saturday, and will return home after breakfast on Sunday. Each family sleeps in their own tent and can come and go as needed. Camp registration form showing the fee for the campsite and pack-provided meals will be distributed a month in advance.
The Thunderbird District hosts several camps a year and for safety reasons, these are the only opportunities for archery and BB Guns. The pack will decide whether to do Native American Weekend (fall) and Cub-O-Ree (spring) as overnight camping events or Day camps. In addition, each summer individual Cub Scouts may attend a one week cub camp (this camp is from mid afternoon to early evening and provides an opportunity to get ahead on requirements for the next rank). Webelos may attend resident (overnight) summer camp and Webelos Woods in the fall. Registration for District sponsored camps can be found at www.bacbsa.org.
